Crochet Basics
skill level: Beginner
In this fun workshop, held in our Auckland studio, you will learn the basics of crochet: holding the yarn and your hook, making a slip knot, chain and single crochet stitches, crochet gauge & virtual resources we love.
We provide hooks to use in the studio and you get to choose a mini skein of handdyed DK 8ply merino yarn right off the studio wall before class!
Buying a hook to take home with you is an option.
By the end of the class you'll have a good understanding of basic crochet stitches, and how to find the online resources to help you progress. This particular class is suited for teens and older.
Class includes:
20g of Prosper DK (a $12 value)
hooks to use in class (available for purchase)
1 hour guided making + option to stay and work on your own in our yarn lounge (we can answer questions)!
What you need to bring:
A notebook & pencil and/or a device you can use to take notes, photos or videos
Please include your mobile phone number in the note section at checkout, or include it in your profile if you register with the website. Then we can text you if there are any last minute details, or changes.
If wearing a mask benefits you or those around you - we absolutely encourage that : )
We try our best to make our photos as accurate as possible but every screen displays colour slightly differently, so we cannot guarantee complete accuracy. Hand-dyed yarns vary from one batch to the next so there will always be some variation between the photo and each individual skein.
Part of the hand dyed allure is each skein's individuality. This gives final objects depth and nuance. With this in mind we recommend alternating skeins (every other row in flat knitting and every row in circular knitting) on larger projects creating a more cohesive blend.
