October’s a funny old time. In New Zealand, spring has already spring, though the worst of our winter’s weather seems to be clinging on, and the last school term has begun. This lacks all of the romance of the deep orange leaves, and looming Halloween season of our neighbours in the northern hemisphere. But this us never stops us kiwis from leaning into the spooky fall fun!
Our October sock is a rustic Merino and Lincoln strong wool blend. The Lincoln replaces nylon for a plastic free sock!
This month, we’ve used our deep rusty orange Hoodoo colourway, but left 10g as its beautiful undyed self to encourage you play with some colour work. The non superwash sock base leans its self so well to this application. We’ve also worked out a little chart for a ghost and ghoul. These work together as a 16 stitch repeat, or can be split in half as an 8, making them the perfect little addition for a sock cuff.
Happy Halloween, and happier knitting! X
