Fresh start, fresh air, and fresh flowers. Welcome to 2026, and our January ‘There’s No Place Like Home’ Sock Club.

January has a habit of being jarring. Once the decorations come down, and the tents are packed away, it sneaks up, and reminds us about our regular day-to-day life. This can come in the form of a comforting return to routine, or an abrupt end of holiday bliss!

There’s something about a vase of fresh flowers that can counter that though. They’re as much breath-taking as they are breath-giving. A vase of joy in which you can shut your eyes, breathe deep and float back to holiday for a moment. And that is where we found our inspiration for this month’s sock yarn. We dyed a bouquet of flowers on a beautiful untreated, high twist, South Island Merino.

We’re knitting ours with Erica Leuder’s pattern Hermione’s Every Day Socks. Though instead of working cuff down, as per the pattern, we’ve opted to work toe up. It’s a joy to acknowledge our learning and preferences, and be able to adapt patterns to suit!

Happy knitting whānau, and of course, Happy New Year x
