Because makers are observers. Hands-on artists. Quiet archivists of beauty. This Advent is for you — the sketchers, the stitchers, the wildflower-pressers...

Wander through wild places — one stitch at a time. This year’s Advent is a love letter to Aotearoa’s untamed South Island. Inspired by alpine sunrises, lichen covered rocks, pressed wildflowers, and the quiet wonder of a naturalist’s journal, Field Notes of the Southern Wilds invites you on a journey of colour, texture, and mindful making.

Unwrap 12 or 24  20g hand-dyed mini skeins (choose your base yarn), and add 1 or 2 full sized skeins to open last (or first?), along with journaling inspired gifts designed to delight the wanderer, and the naturalist in you. We figure you've got access to stitch markers and measuring tapes. We want to introduce you to some cool, small, local makers we hope you'll support long after you open your Advent gifts.

And the second best part? We are going to give you lots of ideas on how to use your Advent. Sarah will be working on a 'scrappy' sweater using our mini skeins held double with a main colour, I'm already working on the knit hexagon shawl Yéyé from the 52 Weeks of Scrap Yarn book, and Caitlyn will start her Vestiges Sweater in January just as everyone has finished opening their Advents. Isabella and India haven't decided yet - but we will be documenting our makes and sharing them with you on social media.  We will even help you find a pattern you love. So if you have hesitated in the past, and missed all the Advent fun because you didn't know what to do with 24 mini skeins, now you can go for it! We're here to help.

The Advents are actually offered in a limited quantity on each base because the effort it takes to dye, and package them is massive, and we can only do so much. So if you're keen, get in fast. The pre-order will close mid October.  Advents ship the first week of November.
