Fit & Yarn Details
We recommend a chunky yarn that asks for 15mm needles on the label and meets the same gauge (stitch count within a 10 cm square) as below.
For our sample, we used: Abbey Road "born to be wool" from Spotlight Stores (100% merino wool; 50m / 55 yds / 100g per ball) in lavender using 4 (5, 6) (7, 8) balls.
A suitable substitute is "The Wool" by We Are Knitters.
Gauge: 6.5 stitches and 9 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette stitch
Designed to be worn with 5-8 cm / 2-3.25" of ease depending on your personal preference. Sizes read as A (B, C) (D, E).
Finished chest measurements: cm = 61.5 (67.5, 74) (80, 86) / inches = 24.5 (27, 29.5) (32, 34.5).
Yarn Quantity: metres = 182 (229, 275) (330, 379) / yards = 200 (251, 302) (362, 415).
Needles: 15mm/US 19 and 10mm/US 15 circular needles both on a 80cm/31.5" cord. NOTE: The body is knit flat but the sleeves are worked in the round using the magic loop method and circular needles. If you prefer to use DPNs on the sleeves then you will also need DPNs in both needle sizes mentioned above.
Proper yarns we recommend: Bossy
If you like the colour of the sample photographed out best colour match would be Rubber soul or Patience for the grey and Sweet sweet manuka for the mustard sample.
We try our best to make our photos as accurate as possible but every screen displays colour slightly differently, so we cannot guarantee complete accuracy. Hand-dyed yarns vary from one batch to the next so there will always be some variation between the photo and each individual skein.
Part of the hand dyed allure is each skein's individuality. This gives final objects depth and nuance. With this in mind we recommend alternating skeins (every other row in flat knitting and every row in circular knitting) on larger projects creating a more cohesive blend.
