November is naturally a busy time, as we all get ready for the Summer break. This excitement can come with stress, about finishing projects and pulling together kai and thinking about extra gifts.. it seems only fitting that we get to finally enjoy some warm weather! For some people that means endless hours digging and splashing at the beach, or floating at the pool. For us, it means going camping.
This month we are ecstatic to bring you a truly unique collaboration. We’ve teamed up with the wonderful Little Mill Over the Hill to create a beautiful one of a kind DK sock yarn. It is a special blend of Polworth, Corriedale and Romney with 15% Lincoln and 10% Silk.

It may feel somewhat counterintuitive to be knitting a heavy DK sock in Summer, but I’ve always found they’re essential for filling out tramping boots, or cuddling into a sleeping bag while out camping. So much of the kiwi Summer seems to be spent in places that are just crying out for a beautiful comfortable thick sock.
This wool was beautiful undyed. So much so that we split off a little extra so you could use it as a contrast heel or toe. For the rest, we kept the dye light, to give the yarn room to sing. We used a mossy speckle to highlight the twist, and give your knitting some pops of beautiful natural colour.
We’re using Andrea Mowry’s Bear Paw Sock pattern for ours. This is a beginner friendly sock, with sizing for the whole family, a great gift knit!
Alternatively, Petit Knit’s Sunday Socks use a slightly looser gauge, perfect for bedsocks, but slightly less hard wearing. Keep those ones out of the tramping boots.
Happy knitting everyone
