Finishing & Care

Proper Wool Care

When it comes to caring for your wool garments, it's important to know how. Wool is a delicate fabric that requires gentle handling to maintain its quality. Always hand wash your wool items in cold water and avoid harsh chemicals that can cause damage. We like Eucalan soaps.

Maintaining Colour

Some colour may break loose, which you'll see in your soak water.  This is totally normal. If more colour seems to be bleeding, and its effecting colour work for example, for animal fibres, squeeze some lemon juice into your soak water. This reinforces the chemical bond. In cellulose fibres (cotton, linen) the dye will very slowly fade over time, much like a pair of jeans.

Finishing Techniques

For hand-dyed wool garments, special finishing techniques are necessary to preserve the color and texture. After washing, reshape the garment while it's damp to ensure it retains its original shape. Avoid hanging wool items, as they can stretch out of shape. Instead, lay them flat to dry to maintain their integrity.

Storing Your Wool

Proper storage is key to keeping your wool items in top condition. Always clean or air out your wool garments before storing them to prevent moths and other pests. Use breathable storage bags or containers to allow air circulation and prevent musty odors. Store wool items in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.
